  • Hauling heavier loads puts a big strain on your suspension. Without reinforcement you could end up with a sagging ride, with a lack of control and comfort. Bolt on a set of Gabriel Load Carrier Spring Assist Shocks, though, and your vehicle will ride like it's not pulling anything at all.

The key to Gabriel Spring Assist Load Carrier Shocks is their coilover design. By adding finely-tuned springs to the equation, these shocks give you the best of both worlds. Front Load Carriers include a constant-rate coil spring that restores or maintains your ride height while offering better towing stability. Rear shocks come with variable-rate springs to give you a 500 pound load capacity per pair (still, do not exceed your vehicle's GVWR when towing!). And with the chromed piston rod, leak-proof piston seal, and Drawn-Over-Mandrel Tubing design found in all of Gabriel's shocks, you know you're getting rugged performance that lasts.

Get the most comfort and stability in your towing machine with Gabriel Load Carrier Spring Assist Shocks. Backed with a 1-Year/25,000-Mile Warranty.

This item is pretty costly, next to the cheaper sets out there. However, I can honestly say that as soon as the parts were installed and I took the vehicle for a test ride, I could tell the difference before even leaving the driveway. Also, a master mechanic commented, "Its already got a much better stance.", before I even took it off the lift. These shocks are also very stiff. The application is for a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis. This IS my personal vehicle. I believe it had air suspension on it at one point, and it was removed...(It has coil springs in the back... Most likely to compensate.). Sorry, but in my opinion, the Ford factory air suspension on these vehicles was perfect. There is no need to change it. However, if you have one that has been modified and you just cant seem to get the rear of the car up... These Gabriel Spring Assist shocks are absolutely perfect for the job.

These are great coil over shocks. If you don't want to get airbags or if your aged springs sag these are the ticket. I've had a pair on the front of my truck for 6-8 months and finally got around to installing the rear set. You have to get creative when installing them. The fronts I compressed with ratcheting tie downs, the rear pair had thicker springs so I had to jack up the truck from the tow receiver thus decompressing my suspension to fit the shocks in place. Overall I highly recommend them with a 4.5/5 star review.
